I've been involved in CISV since I was 11. I went to a Village in Holland in 1991 as a kid, did an IC in 1994-95 with Calgary, Canada and did JC in 1997 in Victoria, Canada. And this summer, SEMINAR-CAMP. Coming to the end of the camp, I feel that a seminar camp has got something different from other CISV programs I've done so far. In the villages and interchanges the program and contents are pretty much planned, either by leaders or staffs. But in a seminar camp, we, the participants were the people who made plans and organized everything. It was a very new experience for me, and I realized the importance of being responsible in the camp as a participant. I found out that each participant could make a difference. Through the activities and discussions, there were lots of opportunities to make me think of differences and similarities between different cultures. Now the camp has ended, but for me it's still going on inside of me. All the thoughts and ideas I found in this camp, some of them were from others and some were from myself, are going to come back to me again, and I will think of them again. Also I am sure we all keep in touch. It was the greatest experience of the summer Mayuko Takeo (JAPAN) |
Mike Manhart (Seminar Camp Referent)
